I took my old laptop in to Best Buy today because it had stopped booting. It is a few years old and they said it is more cost efficeient to buy a new one than to put money into the old one. So, now i’m trying to choose a new notebook computer. I am a teacher but this is my home computer. I want it for music, picture and video playing and editing, School related things (word processing, powerpoint) and internet as well as my financial records etc. I do not want a Mac because it will not be compatible with my computers at school. I have a notebook computer, and I need to carry it around. I have both a regular backpack and a computer backpack (has a padded computer slot, but is probably twice as bulky w/ all the extra pockets). I really like my regular one better, but is it less safe to store my computer without the padding of a computer backpack? Thanks.Submited by:Marco L

I just purchased a new computer. The new computer has Windows XP, USB ports, a Firewire port, RJ 11, and RJ45 port.

The old computer has Windows Vista, USB ports, RJ11, and RJ45(no Firewire).

I need to tranfer my files from the old computer to the new one. What is best way to do this? Software, cables, etc? Windows has a files transfer setting. Will I have a problem since one computer is XP and the other is Vista?

I use a micro SD card between my laptop and netbook as an external hardrive for my class files. I often download files on one computer or the other without the drive in that computer. Is it possible to set my computer up so that when I insert my drive my computer automatically updates the folder on my removable drive with the folder on my computer?Submited by:Alexander
